Sudbury Green Party of Canada, Candidate
Local Green Party of Canada members gathered on the evening of June 11, 2009, to vote on who would represent them during the next federal election. The Sudbury Federal Green Party Association is proud to officially announce that we have a candidate in place for the upcoming federal election: Fred Twilley.
Fred Twilley 524-2558
|
Fred Twilley was born in 1945, raised and educated in Toronto. He obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Geology and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto. He moved to Sudbury in 1970. Fred worked for Falconbridge Ltd (now Xstrata Ltd) until 1999. He has since done contract work for Falconbridge and First Nickel. Fred became a Professional engineer in 1972. Fred is married to Yollande and together they raised seven children (including step and adopted children) and have seven grandchildren. Since retirement, Fred has been a volunteer for the Red Cross, Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Service (VCARS) and Restorative Justice. Long before it became a popular slogan Fred reduced, reused, restored and recycled with a passion that often frustrated family, friends, and coworkers. His education and his experience with disaster services in the Red Cross, has given Fred an invaluable perspective of the environment and our economy and their vulnerability. Fred found in the Green Party the vitally needed policies to prepare our country to meet the inevitable challenges. Fred Twilley was the Nickel Belt candidate in the October 2007 Ontario provincial election and in the October 2008 federal election. He also campaigned in the Guelph by-election. Through his experiences in a reconstituted family and in restorative justice, Fred has learned that working cooperatively with mutual respect is critical in resolving problems. Fred believes that the hostile destructive culture in politics has to change. Until politicians show more respect for each other and decide that they must work together to determine what is right and forget about who is right, they cannot expect the public to respect them. Nobody has a monopoly on good ideas. Our collective intelligence is far greater than that of any single individual or small group of individuals. |
