Welcome to the Sudbury Green Party of Ontario Constituency Association page. To find out if you are in our Constituency Association please visit the Elections Ontario website and input your postal code.

The Green Party of Ontario (GPO) became an officially registered political party in 1983, and has been developing in size and sophistication since that time, expanding its membership and rising in the polls. We have increased the number of candidates in successive provincial elections. In the 1999 provincial election, we fielded 58 candidates, and became the fourth largest party in the province. In 2003, we fielded our first nearly-full slate, 102 out of 103 candidates, and received 2.8% of the vote. At present, the GPO is averaging about 9% in the polls. The next provincial election is fixed for October 10, 2007.

Steven Edwards d'Entremont (email below) was appointed first Official Historian of the Green Party of Ontario in April 2006. In August 2006, he organized GPO Heritage Council, which established Archival and Cultural Heritage working committees. The GPO Heritage Council also established the GPO Historical Society in July 2007, with free open membership. In 2008, the Green Party of Ontario will celebrate its 25th Anniversary.

History of the Sudbury Green Party of Ontario Constituency Association:

The Sudbury Green Party of Ontario (GPO) Constituency Association (CA) was founded on March 19, 2008.  Having a Green Party CA is a very important step for the Sudbury Riding; now the Green Party of Ontario will be able to be seen and herd beyond election time in a more official way.  Not only will the CA make sure there is a “Green” Candidate in any upcoming provincial election they will also support other “Green” movements in Sudbury. The Sudbury GPO CA voted in their new executive for the year on May 4th, 2009 which consist of 5 executive members.

All meetings will be listed on the events page, please be sure to check and see if you can attend our meetings. Minutes for meetings will be provided via email by our Communications Chair , Dana Clark upon request.
